Former Tennis Star Chris Evert

Former professional tennis star, Chris Evert has had celebrity status for years. Evert, born in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on December 21, 1954, became a professional tennis player in 1972 and retired in 1989. During those years, Chris achieved great success and earned almost 9 million dollars from prize money. She was ranked #1 in the world for seven years, and had a career singles record of 1,309-146, winning 18 Grand Slams and 157 singles titles. Although Chrissie saw much success on the court, her personal life has had a couple of losses of its own.

Evert has been married three times, with the most recent being earlier this year to pro golfer, Greg Norman. Her previous marriages were to tennis player John Lloyd, from 1979-1987, and Olympic downhill skier Andy Mill, from 1988-2006. Mill and Evert have three sons together. Currently, Evert resides in Boca Raton, Florida.

Evert is also known for starting the Evert Tennis Academy with her brother, Chris, and her father, Jimmy, in 1996. They also teamed up with IMG, the world's largest sports marketing firm, to get the academy off the ground. Another great accomplishment for Evert is her continuous effort to raise money for drug abuse and child neglect in Florida. For close to 20 years, Chrissie has hosted the Chris Evert/Raymond James Pro-Celebrity Tennis Classic. They started this in 1989, and have raised nearly 17 million dollars. Evert has consistently tried to use her name and her image to improve lives.
