Who Is Chris Evert?

The tennis world has outstanding stars and some stand out more than others. Christine Marie Evert, born December 21, 1954 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida is one of those stand outs. She has been considered as the best tennis player in the 20th century.

Ms. Evert is another tennis player bound for greatness as she began her training at the age of 5. Luckily, she was trained by one of the best players around, her father, Jimmy Evert. By 1969, she became the Number One ranked 14 and under girl in the United States. During this year, she was able to make it to the senior tournament, which she lost but not without setting a record of going the furthest in her first senior level tournament. For the next several years, she played many tournaments and championships and had her share of wins and losses. In 1970, she was ranked World No. 1 for five years straight dominating the clay courts for years. Beginning in 1973, she started a record of 125 consecutive wins with only losing seven sets for six years. That record still stands today for both men and women.

Despite the fame, fortune, and romantic hardships, she has been able to hold down a family with a husband and three sons and she currently resides in Boca Raton, Florida. Those sons are a result of a previous marriage to two time Olympic skier Andy Mill. Ms. Evert owns and operates a tennis academy in Boca Raton and helps coach the tennis team at Saint Andrews High School.
