Williams Sisters

The Williams sisters are the most successful sisters in tennis history. They have both been the No. 1 ranked player in the world, and they have each won multiple Grand Slam Titles. They have also won seven Grand Slam Titles together as partners. They have faced each other in seven Grand Slam singles finals. Serena has won five of them, however Venus has won the two most recent.

Serena Williams is probably the more successful of the two. She has won more titles than her sister Venus. She was most successful during the 2002 and 2003 seasons. In 2002, she won three of her nine Grand Slam Titles. She won the French Open, US Open and Wimbledon, all against her sister Venus. In 2003, she won the Australian Open and Wimbledon, also against Venus. She only dropped one set in the five matches. Her most recent Grand Slam title was the 2008 US Open when she beat Jelena Jankovic in straight sets. Serena has also won two mixed doubles Slams in 1998 with Max Mirnyi. They won Wimbledon and the US Open together.

Venus Williams has won seven Grand Slam titles and was most successful during the 2000 and 2001 seasons. In 2000, she won the US Open and Wimbledon. She beat Lindsey Davenport in straight sets of both finals. During 2001, she won the same two tournaments. She beat Serena in straight sets of the 2001 US Open. Venus has also won two mixed doubles Slams with Justin Gimelstob. They won the 1998 French and Australian Opens together.
