Venus and Serena Williams are both highly ranked professional female tennis players in the US and in the World. Their success story consists of hundreds of titles and prize money during their journey as tennis players. Despite the defeats and victories against each other, they have offered spectacular and enjoyable games to watch.
In 2008, Serena was nominated the best player of the season by the Women's Tennis Association. Although her knee was injured, she gave it her best until the end. While Serena was only five years old, she won her first tournament. In the next six years, Serena won 46 other tournaments. She was coached by Rick Macci and trained mainly with her sister and Andy Roddick. Her career started to peak in 1998 when she made herself up to World No. 99, as she defeated two opponents ranked in the Top 10. That year she was ranked in the Top 20 by the Women's Tennis Association. Today, Serena is the owner of two Olympic Gold Medals in women's doubles and a total of 20 Grand Slam titles.
In the Australian Open, Venus was able to defeat her sister. She won the tournament in Oklahoma City in 1998. The same year, she and her sister also won women's doubles on the Women Tennis Association's tour in the same city. Venus was ranked World No. 6 on the singles Women's Tennis Association tour. The French Open, during the next year, marked another victory for Venus and her sister for the women's doubles title. She won the Grand Slam title in 2000. Overall, she and her sister won eight titles in women’s' doubles. At the Sydney Olympics in 2000, the Gold Medal was waiting for Venus.
