The Williams Sisters

Venus Williams, the older sister of Serena, is currently the number five player in the world. She may not be holding onto the number one rank, but she will be defending her Grand Slam title this upcoming year. The next Grand Slam is Wimbledon, which she has won the previous two titles. She has won seven of the single slams in her 16 year career on the Women's Tennis Association tour. Besides her Grand Slam titles, she has 34 other titles plus an Olympic Gold medal in 2000.

Venus' success on the tour is not limited to singles alone like some of the major players. She also has won several doubles titles and slams with her sister. The most recent Grand Slam was in the Australian Open in January. It was their 8th Grand Slam title together and it game against Hantuchova and Sugiyama in a 2 set, 6-3,6-3 win. The Williams sisters now rank third in total slam titles and will be defending their Wimbledon double's title this year. They also won the Olympic Gold in Beijing.

Serena may be Venus' little sis, but she can dominate the tennis world including her big sis. She is currently the world women's number one. She also will be defending one of her Grand Slam titles this year, the U.S. Open. The other title she has is the Australian Open that she just won.

Their latest match play was a victory in the Family Circle Cup for Venus when she beat Mirza in 3 sets to advance from the second round. Serena was not so successful with her loss to Azarenka in the Sony Ericsson Open finals. She won the previous 3 years, but could not make it a 3peat.
