Wimbledon is located in England and is very well known as the world's leading tennis tournament. Wimbledon was founded in 1968 and was originally called The All England Croquet Club.
The most recent winners at Wimbledon have walked away with trophies, smiles and a ton of cash. On July 3 2009, Andy Murray was beaten by Andy Roddick in the semi0finals. After playing extremely well, Murray lost the tennis match while his fans watched in disbelief. The fans just knew that Murray would win this one tournament. However, Murray made the promise he’d return in 2010 to win the tournament.
Roger Federer won his 15th big win at Wimbledon on July 5, 2009 against Andy Roddick. When the press asked Roddick what he was feeling about losing the game, Roddick replied by saying he has been the champion for seven years of the men’s division. Roddick continued by saying it was a tremendous game even though Federer at times looked like he was getting frustrated at some of Roddick's serves.
Serena Williams won for the third time at Wimbledon on Saturday, July 4, 2009 by defeating her sister Venus Williams. This win was Serena’s 11th grand slam and first Wimbledon title in 6 years. Serena Williams said she is looking forward to her place in the tennis history.
