Ana Ivanovic grew up in a middle class family in Belgrade, Serbia (Yugoslavia) with her parents, Dragena and Miroslav, along with brother Milos. Unlike many tennis players, Ivanovic chose not to have a coach and she still attends school where she studies finance. Growing up, Ivanovic always enjoyed the games of tennis and often was influenced by her idol, fellow tennis great, Monica Seles. Ivanovic entered the professional world of tennis in 2003 and immediacy started her endorsement career. Originally, Ivanovic endorsed for Nike, but she later began endorsing Adidas.
Since her entrance in the professional world of tennis, Ivanovic has reached the number one ranking in the world; she is currently ranked eighth. Ivanovic has played in all four Grand Slam Singles events and three of the four in doubles. In doubles, Ivanovic has reached the thirrd round and Wimbledon and the U.S. Open in 2005 and 2006, but that is the furthest she went.
Singles has been more successful for Ivanovic; in 2007 she made it to the fourth round at the U.S. Open and to the semi-finals at Wimbledon. In 2007, Ivanovic made it all the way to the finals at the French Open, but lost to Justine Henin. Ivanovic was once again runner up in 2008 at the Australian Open when she was defeated by Maria Sharapova. Ivanovic finally won her first title in 2008, when she beat Dinara Safina at the French Open.
Ivanovic currently resides in Basel, Switzerland where she continues to improve on her tennis game and advertise her endorsements.
